The Spotlight is on…
A Pittsburgh native, Dennis Watson was the founding member of the North Hills Sports Hall of Fame which began in 1995. The North Hills Sports Hall of Fame has impacted more than 125 players, coaches, administrators, and community supporters who have brought pride and recognition to the athletic programs of the North Hills High School District.
Watson served as a director for the North Hills School District for eight years as a member of the school board. He was an avid supporter of North Hills athletics and activities and continues to serve the North Hills community. Watson is currently a trial attorney with Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. and resides in the North Hills with his wife Joan.
As a youth, Dennis Watson grew up outside of Evans City, Pennsylvania and attended Evans City Elementary School and graduated from Seneca Valley High School. Dennis played baseball through American Legion and Butler Eagle County Sandlot League. In 1978 he moved to West View township in Pittsburgh where he still resides today.
From 1989 to 1997 Dennis Watson served on the North Hills School Board and was their Finance Chairman in 1989 and 1990. From there he was named as Board President for three years (1990-1992). Following his tenure as Board President Dennis Watson became the Athletics and Activities Committee Co-Chair until 1997.
On a personal basis, Dennis Watson and his wife Joan have four children all of whom were students at West View Elementary School and then graduated from North Hills High School. The Watson children were all athletes:
Dennis Watson is a Pittsburgh Pirates season ticket holder who also was at the final game played in Forbes Field and the first game at Three Rivers Stadium as well as the inaugural game at PNC Park. An avid golfer who calls himself a poor/mediocre golfer, Dennis was at the Masters this year and has plans to be at the PGA Championship and British Open in 2024.

- Suzanne (Class of 1997) Played tennis
- Maggie (Class of 1998) Played tennis
- Denny (Class of 2000) Played baseball and is a sports broadcaster
- Hank (Class of 2002) Played baseball. In college, Hank played two years on the Penn baseball team and four years on the Sprint Football Team (weight restricted football)
